One of the activities suggested in the Monkey King Teacher’s Guide is to have students tell their own stories using shadow puppets. I use the shadow puppet included in the box as a model and after discussing their uses and social context across Asia we get to work!
I suggest making shadow puppets from plastic sheets (Dura-lar is preferred) rather than paper because they will be more durable and hold up better. Younger students will need some help cutting out the plastic and attaching the rod but will still have fun decorating and performing their creations.
